Pickerington

Pickerington was founded in 1815 as Jacksonville, named after Andrew Jackson. The name was changed in 1827 in honor of its founder, Abraham Pickering. As land annexation, development, and immigration into the Columbus area continues, the city of Pickerington (like many area suburbs) has generally followed suit. Pickerington is home to the Motorcycle Hall of Fame and it was designated as the "Violet Capital of Ohio." Pickerington is located just east of Columbus. The city features a historic downtown shopping area, while Violet Township is home to rolling hills, log houses, forests, and fields. Pickerington is a welcoming community where families can enjoy safe, tree-lined streets and an excellent quality of life. Homebuyers here are greeted by an affordable selection of homes in many attractive neighborhoods.

Pickerington has over 150 acres of park land, including seven distinctive parks that provide quiet relaxation; a day of family recreation; a Friday Night Flicks; or sometimes music in our amphitheater. The Parks and Recreation Department of Pickerington maintains these parks – protecting the natural beauty and serene landscape. Playgrounds abound in our community parks and nearby Metro Parks – providing high-energy entertainment for children. The City even owns and operates its own community outdoor swimming pool for added summer fun.

Myriad of festivals are held throughout the year in Pickerington. Favorites include: July 4th Celebration; Haunted Village; Olde Village Holiday Gathering; and the Pickerington Youth Fishing Derby. The Pickerington Community Theater also delights with local comedies and dramas.

Residents of Pickerington enjoy a sparkling clean and safe environment thanks to local police and fire departments that vigilantly keep our neighborhoods family-friendly. The quality of emergency medical services provided to the community is supported by a network of local hospitals including a new state-of-the-art free-standing emergency care facility.

All-in-all, Pickerington amenities add up to one great place to be – but don’t take our word for it, come see for yourself!
